Just 15 minutes drive from Grange-over-Sands is the southern end of Lake Windermere, where you can board the wonderful Steamers at Lakeside and sail up to Bowness. Here, you can disembark, take a walk around Bowness, then get back on board and sail up to Waterhead (Ambleside) at the Northern end of Lake Windermere. The sail back from Waterhead to Lakeside takes about an hour, and is such a relaxing way to enjoy the views of the lake and mountains.
